If you have been following our journey, you’ll know we are involved in many things, with lots of spinning plates to juggle as Michelle likes to say!
Did you attend or join in any of the following events we ran this year?
· Work Pirates gatherings (formerly TruNewcastle)
· Inspiration North Meetups
· Happy Cafes
· One Million Steps challenges
If so, you have helped us to support the following charities:
In total you have helped us to raise - £1,891.44 this year! Amazing!
The donations come from our Inspiration North and Work Pirates (our sister company) events and a % of ticket sales for our big Work Pirates gathering; split 50:50 between PIE Project and Team Evie. Action for Happiness receives the donations from our Happy Cafes. PIE Project also receives additional fundraising from our One Million Steps challenges.
PIE Project - Donation of £1,641.44
In December 2019, Michelle and I became trustees of the Primary Inspiration through Enterprise children’s charity. It offers children STEM and enterprise challenges to prepare them for the future world of work. Imagine being 9 years old, and your class being given £100 seed funding to create a product or service to sell. So many important skills are learned. All profits are kept by the school and they compete for a prize fund.
We have some ambitious plans for 2021 to improve and digitalise the offering to support schools with giving children experiences that develop their skills and open their eyes to what they can achieve in the future.
From our events we can donate £200.
Our first One Million Steps challenge raised: £1,081.44 - our 2nd challenge is due to finish end of December 2020. We are expecting a further £360 to be added to our fundraising support.
At the last PIE Project Awards Celebration event in summer 2019, Michelle and I recorded a podcast with some the winners. Some definite stars of the future! Have a listen here.
One Million Steps
A special thank you to Ranjit Ghoshal, Founder of One Million Steps for helping us to run the challenges. We love the great work you are doing to support charities in finding new ways to raise money in a covid world! Looking forward to our 3rd challenge.
Why not sign up? This starts on January 1st 2021? Read more here.
Team Evie - Donation of £200
This charity was set up in the memory of Evie Johnston. It has the mission to help sick children and their families who face similar challenges to those Evie faced in her all too short life. The team supports 20 different wards and medical teams across the North East and Cumbria by raising vital funds to buy equipment and staff training.
Our events helped to raise £200.
We recorded a podcast with Founder, Greg Johnston last year. Hear more about his story and the Team Evie mission. Listen here.
Action for Happiness - Donation of £50
This charity was set up to create a movement of people committed to building a happier and more caring society.
In Newcastle Upon Tyne, we bring together like-minded people from all walks of life and help them take practical action, drawing on the latest scientific research.
We have run twice their 8-week Exploring What Matters course.
With lockdown, we took these online and have had 13 happy cafés and 6 Ten Keys to Happier Living events all through lockdown.
The donations have helped to raise £50 for Action for Happiness.
So, on behalf of the Inspiration North team and the charities you have helped us to support this year, a massive THANK YOU!
